THERE is only one word to describe the treatment of Ben Freemanas outlined in our front page story -- sickening. Newspapers areoften condemned for reporting 'bad news' but the alternative is toturn a blind eye and that was never an option in this case.
The more bullying and prejudice are ignored, the more mainstreamthey are allowed to become.
Sadly one gang of youths in Llanelli have seemingly yet to learnthe meaning of respect and tolerance.
That the incident was captured on video and then posted on theinternet for others to see is repulsive enough but to hear the howlsof laughter and encouragement makes you worry for the future.
We print this in the hope that these youths stop, reflect ontheir actions and feel some sense of shame and remorse -- and thatpolice, parents and teachers might question whether enough is beingdone to stamp out bullying.
Most importantly we have run the story to support Ben and hisfamily.
